Frieda Charlotte

Abstract colorful painting with overlapping circles and brushstrokes in pink, orange, red, yellow, and green.

I make art because I love colour — in a world that can feel grey, colour and form have always been my way of expressing what words can't quite reach.

My paintings are intuitive and abstract, built from layers of vivid colour, organic shapes and the energy of the natural world. Flowers, gardens and the unseen forces that move through everyday life find their way into everything I make. Some paintings are purely abstract. Others allow a flower or creature to emerge from the colour field — sitting somewhere between imagination and the real garden outside my window.

Many of my works include hand-placed glass beads — a slow, meditative practice that brings light and texture to the painted surface. Each bead is placed by hand, one at a time. It is the part of my process I love most.

I paint in series and collections, each one exploring a different aspect of colour, energy and the natural world. No two works are ever the same and none are ever recreated.
